(Dream) To Do List: Karl Lagerfeld’s ‘Fire Etchings’

kagerfeld1IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE IN SWITZERLAND in the next few weeks, A) I’m super jealz, and B) there’s a show worth seeing. Check it:

Galerie Gmurzynska is pleased to announce the exhibition, Karl Lagerfeld: Fire Etchings; a unique and new body of artwork by one of the great renaissance personalities of our time.

Lagerfeld will display a body of work created from backlit glass that has had its image etched into the surface by fire. The works combine a brand new medium, for art and the artist, with Lagerfeld’s iconic photography talent. Large scale and unique, the exhibition focuses on images Lagerfeld has abstracted of some of his current muses: the rapper, Theophilus London; and the models, Freja Beha Erichsen and Aymeline Valade. Together these pieces create Lagerfeld’s answer to contemporary portraiture.

Karl Lagerfeld: Fire Etchings is on view from February 19 through March 23, 2013 at Galerie Gmurzynska St. Moritz, at Via Serlas 22, 7500 St. Moritz, Switzerland, tel +41 (81) 8 33 36 51.
